The Past and Present of International Labour Organization

CFP: a conference organized by IISH and AMSAB, 2007

Call for Papers

The International Institute of Social History (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and AMSAB - Institute for Social History (Ghent, Belgium) are jointly preparing a conference on the past and present of the International Labor Organization. If possible, the conference papers should lay the foundation for a collection of essays to be published later.

The conference dates have not yet been fixed, but the organizers are thinking of October or November 2007. Short paper proposals (of 300 words or less) should be in before the end of April. If the proposal is accepted, a full text is expected no later than 1 August 2007. (Papers will be pre-circulated, so that all conference participants can have read all contributions in advance; this should improve the quality of critiques and discussions.)

The organizers hope to be able to cover all participants' travel and hotel expenses, but this financial side has to be explored further.

The conference language will be English. The team preparing the conference consists of: Magaly Rodriguez, Wouter Steenhaut, Jasmien Van Daele, Geert Van Goethem, and Marcel van der Linden.

Submissions should be mailed to:
