45th Annual Meeting of the Social Science History Association
Chicago, Illinois, November 21-24 2019
Submission Deadline: February 16, 2019
“Data and its Discontents”
The 2019 Program Committee seeks individual paper and panel proposals on all aspects of social science history. We are especially interested in research that interrogates the many forms of quantitative and qualitative historical data. In particular, we seek papers that address core questions about historical data:
• Does data exist?
• What is it?
• Where does it come from?
• How did it get here?
• What good is it?
• Why do some crave it, and others abhor it?
• Can we make it better?
• Can we get even more?
We will hold the 2019 conference November 21-24 at The Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, for what may be the last time at that storied venue.
How do I apply for a Graduate Student Travel Grant to help pay the cost?
Starting in December 2018, information about, and applications for, Graduate Student Travel Grants will be available at http://ssha.org.
Notification of travel awards will accompany paper acceptances.
