Left History is a peer reviewed scholarly journal published bi-annually out of York University, with an editorial board of prominent left historians. We feature articles and reviews from established scholars, early-career scholars, and graduate students.
Left History invites original submissions on a wide range of topics. Left History regularly includes articles from a variety of academic disciplines, political perspectives, and theoretical approaches, on topics including race, politics, social movements, gender, sexuality, culture, the state, labour, the environment, human rights, theory, and methodology. We are always accepting articles, reviews, and review essays.
Article length should range between 6,000—10,000 words (not including citations), or around 20—35 double-spaced pages. Please contact the editors if you would like to submit a longer piece or want to discuss any special circumstances. Please submit an electronic version of your manuscript as a Word.docx file, and include a brief abstract, not exceeding 250 words.
We ask that authors do not simultaneously submit their articles to more than on journal and please ensure copyright laws are followed when including images.
