We are pleased to announce that ViVa now includes historical citations on women in African history.
ViVa is a current bibliography of articles about women's and gender history. Articles published in English, French, German, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish are selected from 140 European, American, and Indian journals. Today, the ViVa database contains bibliographic records describing nearly seven thousand articles published from 1975 to 2002 in historical and women's studies journals. It can be accessed from the ViVa homepage.
ViVa now includes historical citations on women in African history from AfricaBib, the largest Africana database on women in the world on the Internet. They are contributed by Davis Bullwinkle, the compiler of Africa.Bib, and director of the Institute for Economic Advancement Research Library within the Institute for Economic Advancement on the campus of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The AfricaBib citations in ViVa refer to articles from 1995 onwards. They are fully integrated into the ViVa database and can be searched by author, title, year of publication and journal title. AfricaBib titles cannot be searched by time period, but you can find them all by entering "afr" in the "Code" box on the Advanced search screen. AfricaBib titles are displayed separately in the African-History section on the Browse pages.
