British Trade Union History

Online resource

The first phase of an exciting new online resource was launched last week. THE UNION MAKES US STRONG website at www.unionhistory.info will present a history of the British trade union movement since the early 19th century, based on digitised images from the TUC Library Collections.

This first phase includes a Timeline of images and documents from 1815-1960 and a History of the 1888 Match Workers Strike including digitised pages from the Strike Fund Register.

More themed packages will be added during the course of the year, including the full original manuscript of THE RAGGED TROUSERED PHILANTHROPISTS by Robert Tressell and a selection of documents from the Library's archive on the 1926 General Strike.
