Labor History

Editor sought

Routledge, one of the leading international publishers of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science journals, invites applications for the Editorship of its key history journal, Labor History.

Labor History is now in its forty-fourth volume, and will publish quarterly in 2004. It is one of the most prestigious journals in its field and is ranked in both the History and Labor and Industrial Relations categories of the Social Science Citation Index. It has a significant international subscriber base, a strong submission flow and a publisher committed to its support and development.

The ideal candidate will have a high standing in labor history or a related field, excellent organisational skills and extensive international contacts. S/he will also be a scholar of vision who will be responsible for setting all aspects of the editorial policy of the journal as well as for undertaking the traditional duties of Editor; such duties include the appointment of the Editorial Board, overseeing the peer-review process, and the final selection of articles for publication. Routledge particularly welcomes applications from scholars who would draw upon the experience, research and traditions of the wider international labor community in their work as Editor. Scholars resident in any country are welcome to apply, as are scholars in the earlier stages of their career.

The position will commence 1 January 2004 and is for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of further renewal. Generous support will be provided for the Editor, the editorial office and the running of journal-related events.

Applications, which should consist of a CV, covering letter, and statement of editorial intent should be sent to the contact below.

The deadline for applications is 15 August 2003.
