Call for Papers for the 2005-06 academic year
Deadline for Submission: 1 June 2005
This seminar provides a forum for "works-in-progress" that explore the history of working class people, communities, and culture; unions and popular political movements; and other related topics. We are particularly interested in works that deal with gender, sexuality, race, migration, and the social history of work. Our focus has been on U.S. history, however, we welcome papers on North America generally, and on transnational aspects of labor history.
The seminar takes place on one Friday every month, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Newberry Library in Chicago. It is open to graduate students, independent scholars, and faculty. Papers are circulate d electronically in advance. Priority is given to individuals who are at a stage of their research at which they can best profit from discussion.
