The Feltrinelli group celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1957 publication of Boris Pasternak's renowned novel.
From 23-27 November 2007 the entire Feltrinelli Group – the publishing house, the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation, and the Feltrinelli bookshops – will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of one of its greatest international publishing successes.
"Buon compleanno Dottor Živago" is a party to which the Group would like to invite both scholars and readers.
The celebrations, with support by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Fondazione Cariplo, will include four main events:
- a new edition of Doctor Zhivago
- a scholarly international conference organized by the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli: "Doctor Zhivago - New Research, Fifty Years from the Novel's Publication" Download the programme (PDF)
- an exhibition of letters, documents and photographs concerning Pasternak and the history of his renowned novel, curated by Stefano Garzonio: The Second Birth of "Doctor Zhivago"
- public readings of selected pieces from the new edition of the novel (Zhivago: pages of prose and poetry)
