2 Postdoctoral Research Fellows in Labour and Social History

The Faculty of Social Sciences is looking to appoint an outstanding Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Labour and Social History to work on a project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) in collaboration with the national mining museums of England, Scotland and Wales, and the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU). The project led by Professor Keith Gildart (University of Wolverhampton) and Dr Andrew Perchard (Coventry University) is titled ‘On behalf of the people: Work, Community and Class in the British Coal Industry 1947 to 1994’ starting on 02 October 2017.

We are looking for an individual to conduct archival research, oral history interviews, organise data, manage aspects of the project, liaise with project partners, and disseminate research findings through conference presentation and publication.

You will have experience in historical research, oral history, working class history, business history, project management/administration, with published academic outputs and experience of doctoral and post-doctoral research.

You will also be an experienced researcher in the field of labour/social history, and/or business history, oral history, with further expertise in the field of website design/management, blog design/management, work with museums, project management and administration, public engagement, conference organisation, along with published academic outputs in labour/social and/or business history.

You will have a good first degree or equivalent in History, Politics, Sociology or related subject and a PhD/DPhil in Twentieth Century British History, Business History, Labour History, Public History, Politics, Industrial Relations, Sociology or related subject with demonstrable sensitivity to historical methods and perspectives.
