The Arxiu Històric de CCOO de Catalunya (Historical Archives of Catalonia CCOO, http://www.fciprianogarcia.ccoo.cat/ciprianogarcia/arxiuhistoric/index.aspx) organizes, on 24 November, an International Conference "European trade union Archives: a pluralistic model" in collaboration with the Arxiu Històric de la Ciutat de Barcelona (Historical Archives of the City of Barcelona, http://w110.bcn.cat/portal/site/ArxiuHistoric ), the Associació d'Arxivers-Gestors de Documents de Catalunya (Association of Archivists - Document Managers of Catalonia, http://www.arxivers.com/) and the Centre d'Estudis sobre les Èpoques Franquista i Democràtica de la UAB (Center for the Study of Franco and Democratic times of the UAB, http://www.cefid.uab.es/), and with the support of Arxivers sense Fronteres (Archivists Without Frontiers, http://www.arxivers.org/ca/index.php) and the Escola Superior d'Arxivística i Gestió de Documents of UAB (School of Archival and Records Management of the UAB, http://www.esaged.com/).
This conference aims to understand the realities of trade union archives from different European countries, analyze the implementation of different types of archival management in these institutions, discuss the different models and archival problems, explain the existence of a kind of archives with a reality that are little known, even by archivists, and establish links between different institutions and professionals in Europe.
The activity aims to bring archivists, historians and scholars to the diverse world of European trade union files, custodians of a rich and diverse historical and documentary heritage.
