Call for Papers: Workshop on Labour Markets in History: A Comparative Perspective - October 24, 2013
Hosting Institution: Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG), Department of Business and Economics, University of Southern Denmark
Organizers: Karol J. Borowiecki (HEDG), Alex Klein (University of Kent)
The aim of this workshop is to gather scholars from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds working on the broad theme of labour markets in history. Possible topics include serfdom and guild organization, wages, work time, and labour market regulation, development of labor unions and industrial relations, and migration and geographic concentration of people.
The emphasis will be on an informal gathering, where participants seek to learn from each other and find possibilities for collaboration, and to gain understanding of the state of the art of research in the field.
We will strive to accommodate as many speakers as possible. Accepted papers will receive 25 minutes each (15 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion). However, in the interest of avoiding parallel sessions, the presentation time may be shortened.
The organizers can offer lunch, dinner and other refreshments on the day of the meeting, but hotels and travel must be covered by the participants
themselves.
Prospective speakers should submit a one page abstract and a short CV to Karol Borowiecki (kjb [at] sam.sdu.dk) no later than June 30, 2013. Notification of acceptance will be given by the end of July 2013. Full papers are due by October 1, 2013.
This workshop is sponsored by HEDG (the Historical Economics and Development Group) at the Department of Business and Economics, University of Southern Denmark.
