The department of History and Art History is seeking a committed teacher and scholar with expertise in archival practice and history (any period post 1450). We're launching a new MA in Archival Practice in September 2018, in collaboration with the new Plymouth History Centre. You will be involved in the planning and organisation of this new course, and would work alongside academic colleagues in History as well as archivists within Plymouth City Council's Arts and Heritage Service. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and will work effectively both independently and as part of a team with colleagues at the University and the Arts and Heritage Team, with students, and associates.
The post requires:
* A first degree in History, Archival Studies, or a cognate discipline, and PhD in History, Archival Studies, or related discipline.
* An archival qualification and/or experience in archival practice
* The ability to teach across the undergraduate and postgraduate History and Archival Practice curriculum;
* Experience of academic administration responsibilities;
* Excellent academic and pastoral support for students;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively in a team and to take initiative.
This is a part-time post working 18.5 hours per week on a fixed term basis from 18 September 2017 until 30 June 2019 in the first instance.
