Two from the IISH

Updates on Russian archives and women's history

The International Institute of Social History announced two updates on its Web server:

Archives in Russia, a brief extract from the ArcheoBiblioBase information system on archival repositories in the Russian Federation, maintained by Patricia Kennedy Grimsted, has been revised to reflect the 1999 reorganization of the Russian federal archives. An English translation of the "Regulations for the Work of Users in Reading Rooms of State Archives of the Russian Federation," issued by the Federal Archival Service of Russia (Rosarkhiv) in 1998, was added to the site.

At the same time, the IISH opened a new part of the WWW Virtual Library History Network: the WWW VL on Women's History. This is an extension of ViVa, a current bibliography of articles about women's and gender history from more than hundred European, American and Indian journals. The Institute already maintained the WWW VL on Labour and Business History.

An overview of women's history at the IISH is now also available.
