ESTER 2000 seminars on economic and social history

ESTER, the European Graduate School for Training in Economic and Social Historical Research, is an international postgraduate network incorporating more than 60 European universities. The network organizes research training in the form of annual series of Advanced Seminars on specialized themes within Economic and Social History. Each seminar can host a maximum of 15 postgraduates from European universities who are given the opportunity to discuss their work with a number of renowned senior scholars in their field of research. The network language is English.

The 2000 Advanced Seminar Programme

  • Transport, communication and information technology in the transformation of modern society, 1850-2000. Organisers: Professors Lena Andersson-Skog and Olle Krantz. Dates: November 29 - December 2, 2000 in Ulmo, Sweden.
  • The Social History of Religious Groups (16th-20th centuries). Organiser: Professor Andreas Gestrich. September 10-13, 2000 in Trier, Germany.
  • Language, History and Art in Nationalistic Movements, 19th and 20th centuries. Organiser: Professor Barrera. November 7-12, 2000 in Madrid, Spain.
