Tamiment Library

New director appointed

New York University Libraries take great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Dr. Michael Nash as Head of the Tamiment Library and the Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives. Dr. Nash will join our staff on September 3, 2002.

Dr. Nash holds a doctorate in American Labor History from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Since 1991, he has been Chief Curator at the Hagley Library in Wilmington, Delaware. During that time, he built a reputation across the country as a public service librarian of extraordinary talent and intelligence, working to make his library a resource for scholars and an active sponsor of scholarly discussion. He is firmly committed to bringing that same exceptional level of service to the Tamiment Library and to making it the vital center of scholarship that its extraordinary collections merit.

For all of us at New York University and the Division of Libraries, Dr. Nash ’s appointment represents our ongoing dedication to the Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives. In that spirit, he hopes to work closely with archivists, librarians and scholars at NYU and around the nation and the world, looking for new ways to document the history of labor and radicalism and to disseminate that vibrant history to scholars, students, and future generations. As we look to the future, we are excited by the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
