Conference on October 26

The Essex County Labour Party and Labour Heritage are jointly sponsoring a Conference on the history of the Labour Movement in Essex on Saturday, 26 October, 2002, from 10.30am to 4.00pm at the Labour Hall, Collingwood Road, Witham, Essex.

John Kotz, Chair of the County Labour Party will take the chair.

  • 12.05-1.00 Andrew Phillips (lecturer and author): The Trade Union Movement in Essex in the Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century
  • 1.00-2.00 Lunch (provided by the Essex County Labour Party)
  • 2.00-3.00 John Gyford (Labour councillor and author): Tom Driberg, the 1942 Maldon By-election and its Significance Nationally and Locally
  • 3.00-3.45 Stan Newens: Preserving Labour: Records and the Development Work on Labour History
