Announcement: 2005 Kenny Prize Lecture, Thursday, May 5, 4pm
This year the Robert S. Kenny prize for outstanding work in the field of Marxist and labour/left studies has been awarded to Ann Porter for her book Gendered States: Women, Unemployment Insurance, and the Political Economy of the Welfare State in Canada, 1945, published by University of Toronto Press.
The author will be presented with her prize, and will deliver the annual Kenny lecture, in the 2nd Floor auditorium of the Claude T. Bissell Building (Faculty of Information Studies), 140 St. George Street, on the main campus of the University of Toronto at 4pm, Thursday May 5th. The title of the talk is "Capitalism & Unemployment: Enduring Contradictions" and there will be an opportunity for everyone to ask questions and make comments on the topic.
