CfP: ‘Resisting Fascism’ (Socialist History)

Socialist History invites submissions for an upcoming special issue on resisting fascism.
The current rise of fascist movements is a central challenge to today’s working class movement. This issue seeks to look at episodes, initiatives, questions and disputes from the history of anti-fascism that may be of value to anti-fascists.

Suggested Themes and Topics
We welcome articles of up to 9,000 words. They could cover, but are not limited to, the
following:

  • Case studies of anti-fascist organising including workplaces, schools, local
    communities, sport
  • Debates on tactics, including the united front, mass action, electoral politics, anti-fascist organisation
  • State intervention, including government, courts, police, in the anti-fascist movement
  • Relationship between anti-fascist and anti-racist movements
  • The role of art, poetry, music and other cultural forms in resisting fascism
  • Race, gender, and sexuality in anti-fascist struggles
  • The involvement of the media in helping / hindering anti-fascists
  • Transnational and international experiences of resisting fascism

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 3 April 2026. Send a 300-word abstract and a short biographical note.
  • Notification of Acceptance: 24 April 2026.
  • Full Paper Submission Deadline: 3 July 2026.
