Call for papers ‘Labour, Class and Gender in the Struggle for Independence’ being co-organised by Irish Centre for the Histories of Labour and Class (an interdisciplinary group in NUI Galway focusing on labour and class history with special emphasis on Ireland), and Padraig Yeates.

Funded by the Dept of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and NUIG.

It will include a History Ireland Hedge School.

Proposals must be submitted by 29th August.

For several decades now, scholars have taken an interest in analyzing the socialist attempt to transform traditional gender arrangements and revolutionize the family. In contrasting the ideal of women’s emancipation with everyday experience under socialism, studies have demonstrated the limits of the socialist “solution” to “the woman question.” However, recent debates about the very notion, meaning, and existence of feminism(s) under socialist rule show the ongoing relevance of the topic.

Organisé à l’initiative de militants de la santé au travail et de chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales, ce colloque se fonde sur le constat du développement de pathologies d’origine industrielle et de leur sous-estimation dans les statistiques existantes. Ces maux sont dits et dénoncés par les populations qui les subissent depuis les années soixante-dix, et plus encore dans un contexte de désindustrialisation au cours duquel les travailleurs restent exposés à l’héritage toxique des entreprises qui ferment.

Scholars working in the fields of history, political science, economics, sociology, law and related disciplines are invited to submit paper proposals for the international conference “Minorities and Self-determination – 100th Anniversary of the Post-World War I Plebiscites”. Las 14º JORNADAS NACIONALES DE HISTORIA DE LAS MUJERES Y EL 9º CONGRESO IBEROAMERICANO DE ESTUDIOS DE GÉNERO vienen desarrollándose desde 1991, época en que como sostiene Mónica Tarducci “el feminismo era mala palabra”.
