Call for Papers (ESSHC Vienna 2014): Imperial Connections and Household Labour Relations
From April 23-26 2014, The International Institute for Social History will organize the Tenth European Social Science History Conference (ESSHC) in Vienna. We particularly invite PhD students to send their paper proposals for panels comprising 4 participants under the theme 'Imperial connections and household labour relations'.
We hope to stimulate a discussion on the meaning and relevance of analyzing households as a unit of consumption and production. Special attention is given to the division of work in the household between men, women and children in both the colonial and the metropolitan context. We encourage students who investigate household labour relations - and changes therein - to submit an abstract.
Abstract submission deadline: May 1st 2013
Final Paper Submission: March 24th 2014
The conference language will be English.
Call for papers
To apply for this session please send in an abstract of the work you would like to propose of ca. 300 words before May 1st 2013. The abstract must contain an outline of the research question, which addresses the main topic of this session. Also include your name, affiliation, email addresses and paper title. We welcome any type of work in progress (articles, working papers, chapters, research proposals, etc.). The deadline for full papers (maximum 6000 words) will be March 24th 2014.
ESSHC Vienna 2014
The aim of the ESSHC is to bring together scholars who explain historical phenomena using the methods of the social sciences.
