The aim of the present workshop is to support academic networking, exchange, and discussion among young researchers interested in China-related global history and historiography. Participants will be invited to present their research and act as commentators, as well as session chairs.

Taking its cue from exciting new directions in slavery studies as well as our current health crisis, the virtual 2021 Lapidus Center Conference Pandemic Legacies will explore a variety of critical issues in the history of health, healing, and medicine in the age of Atlantic slavery via a combination of keynote conversations and panel sessions.
The workshop aims to study the transformative impact of 20th century wars on European societies. It pursues two main research avenues:

The editors of French Historical Studies seek articles for a special issue on labor in France and the francophone world in global perspective, to appear in 2024.
Since its first appearance in 2013, Black Lives Matter (BLM) has become a widespread social movement dedicated to denouncing and dismantling systemic racism in the United States. As the hashtag #BLM went viral on social and other media, a broad political coalition on the international front was developing, aiming to identify and condemn police violence against young Afro-Americans, and, more generally, the persistent racism targeting black and ethnic minorities of colour in the United States. (Célestine & Martin-Breteau 2020; Recoquillon 2020; Taylor 2016).

Les relations entre la Belgique et la RD Congo sont régulièrement interrogées sous différentes approches. Particulièrement, les voies sociale et économique fondent une réflexion et une posture critiques, d’une part, sur les tensions, les ambiguïtés et les solidarités entre les deux pays depuis la colonisation jusqu’à nos jours et, d’autre part, sur les mobilisations qui se déploient en RD Congo face aux questions socioéconomiques.
