Jadaliyya is seeking contributions to its “Summer of Coups” series, which aims to provide historical and/or contemporary analysis of coups in the Middle East and North Africa region, whether through specific case studies or comparative perspectives. We are interested in the political, economic, social, and/or cultural dynamics of coups, as well as their aftermaths/consequences.

Over the years, Marxist frameworks of analysis have retreated to the shrinking circles of vestigial communist parties, been muted by its practitioners in the interests of avoiding old Cold War polemics, or found their way at first or second remove into fields such as cultural studies, gender studies or postcolonial studies, where they are often disavowed.

WHAT

Postdoctoral Researcher fellowship (4 years) in Switzerland. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to a research project on overcoming inequalities and ethnic discrimination in the labor marketunder the supervision of Dr. Didier Ruedin and Prof. Wassilis Kassis.

WHEN / WHERE

The start date will be 1 September 2018 (or as agreed upon), University of Neuchâtel.
