Labor History seeks a new managing editor, to begin a five year term on January l, 2002. The editorial board has determined to restructure the journal's operations. The new editor's functions will include managment and innovation. The incoming editor will be able to review and oversee all aspects of the journal from manuscript solicitation to publication and distribution.

In November it will be 85 years ago that Joe Hill, whose name was Joel Hägglund when he left Sweden for the USA in 1902, was executed in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was one of the best-known members of the Industrial Workers of the World -- particularly so because he wrote some of their most famous songs.
