2017 jährt sich die Russische Oktoberrevolution zum 100. Mal. Aus diesem Anlass haben die Bundes- stiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur und das Deutsche Historische Museum Berlin eine Plakat- Ausstellung zum Aufstieg und Niedergang der kommunistischen Bewegungen herausgegeben unter dem Titel „Der Kommunismus in seinem Zeitalter“.

International Migration in XXIst Century-II International Conference
10-11 October 2017
The second conference organized by the Research Center of Global Education and Culture of Yeditepe University will be conducted on the theme "International Migration in the XXIst century" with the participation of academicians and international migration specialists. The conference will take place on the 10-11 October 2017, in the Yeditepe University in Istanbul.
De L’Abeille haytienne (Haïti, 1817) à The New Era (Sierra Leone, 1855), de la Revista de Antropofagia (Brésil, 1928), en passant par Black Orpheus (Nigeria, 1957) ou encore Hawar (Kurdistan, 1932) et Ngáy Nay (Viêt Nam, 1935), la revue a été et est devenue, en plusieurs lieux du monde, un support d’expression critique générateur de modernité. Elle met à l’épreuve des pratiques artistiques, littéraires et politiques singulières, et se décline à la fois en laboratoire d’expérimentation, atelier d’écriture et tribune.

Créée en 2003, l’association Mémoire Vive / Memória Viva s’est donnée pour but de
« recueillir et transmettre la mémoire de l’immigration portugaise ».
La BDIC s’est engagée à conserver une partie des archives (archives personnelles ou archives de collectivités) sauvegardées et collectées par le biais de l’association.
The Institute for Social Movements (ISB) of the Ruhr University Bochum, chaired by Prof. Dr. Stefan Berger, invites interested scholars and advanced students to the conference “History, Memory, and Social Movements”, which will take place at the ISB on July 19-20, 2017.
The conference is part of a collaborative postgraduate project between the ISB and the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne (Australia) under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sean Scalmer.

De Volkskrant and the International Institute for Social History are looking for students who have written an outstanding thesis on a historical subject. Students of disciplines other than history are also cordially invited to apply for this award.
The IISH has a cash prize of € 1500 available for the winning thesis. De Volkskrant will publish an interview with the laureate.
