Given the exceptional circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the organizers wish to express that we will follow the situation closely and an online version of this conference might be considered if future updates advise it. Leur importance dans le travail social s’enracine dans l’histoire du secteur et la prise en charge des vulnérables, pauvres et indigents par les philanthropes, les congrégations religieuses et les associations du mouvement ouvrier.

Comment écrire une histoire des régions alpines qui intègrerait de façon systématique des figures féminines et une analyse des relations de genre ? De quelle manière décrire les parcours de vie et les stratégies individuelles des hommes et des femmes entre espace public et espace privé ?
Le séminaire « Perspectives transaméricaines » se propose de confronter les visions de chercheurs travaillant sur les différents territoires et aires culturelles des Amériques et de la Caraïbe. À chaque séance, deux brèves interventions sur un même thème et sur différentes régions du continent seront reprises par un discutant, qui s’attache à favoriser une réflexion transaméricaine puis anime le débat. L’interdisciplinarité est favorisée dans ce séminaire largement ouvert.
Historians have tended, until recently, to treat both inter-war Fascism and Anti-Fascism as almost exclusively European (and to a lesser extent as providing minor themes in the history of the USA, Canada and Australasia). But over the last decade there has been a strong development of studies approaching Fascism as a global phenomenon, (especially in regard to Latin American and South Asia), and of studies of transnational Anti-Fascist campaigns. Current scholarship has also seriously challenged the idea that ‘Anti-Fascism’ was simply a manipulative Stalinist slogan.
The objective is to propose a special issue to the Journal of Transatlantic Studies, by contributing for the understanding of the business of emigrant maritime transport from the Belle Epoque until the end of the 1960s. The editors of the special issue (Yvette Santos and Paulo César Gonçalves) accept proposals focused on the study of the migration industry linked to the maritime transportation of emigrants from Europe to the South Atlantic countries.
