Dear Colleagues,
I am a PhD candidate looking to organize a panel for the Labor Network at the Social Science History Association Annual Meeting in Chicago (November 17-20). My work concentrates on clerical workers in the United States organizing for equality and rights in the workplace through unions and associations. I focus on campaigns in higher education from the 1970s through the early 1990s.

The Mostra CineTrabalho / Brazilian International Labour Film Festival (BILFF) is a university extension activity of the UNESP – São Paulo State University. The event merges the cultural characteristics of a film festival with the academic discipline of social sciences to bring together knowledge and a critical view of the labour world. The BILFF aims to honour and support the filmmakers whose productions regard working conditions and to provide a forum for appreciative and informed discussion of a wide range of labour issues.

In our exciting new exhibition Grafters, visitors will witness how the working classes went from objects in photos, to heroic representations of industry and finally to photographers themselves.
By the 21st century African countries have become more integral part of global processes ranging from trade to regionalization, security to sports diplomacy. 'Old' and emerging actors in the African continent have offered increased engagements in all sectors of development. Although the 'Africa Rising' mantra has been echoed all over the world, sceptical voices about newly formed (but already known) dependencies are also heard.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia holds a repository of over ten million unique items of immense value. It is of utmost importance that its preservation and accessibility are guaranteed.
The visibility of power has always been indispensible for dictatorships - and still is. The practices of such visualizations became particularly relevant in the twentieth century, the age of mass-media imagery. In addition to moving images, it was photography that played a pivotal role, becoming not only a mass medium, but also an everyday practice for the individual photographic actor operating below the level of dominant media representations - a grassroots area that has received much less attention from historians.
